What a complete set offers
Sourcing a chain coupling piece by piece means separately checking that sprockets and chain match and that the cover fits. A chain coupling set supplies all parts, selected to match each other, in a single package and makes fitting easier.
Set contents
- Two sprockets (hubs): same tooth count; can be bored and keywayed to suit the shafts.
- Duplex roller chain: of matching pitch, with connecting link.
- Coupling cover: a two-piece guard enclosing chain and sprockets.
Why the cover matters
- Dust protection: stops flour dust mixing with chain oil into an abrasive paste.
- Oil retention: keeps lubricant inside and stops it spraying around, extending lubrication intervals.
- Safety: removes the risk of contact with the rotating chain and sprockets.
Fitting steps
- Fit the sprockets on the shafts, insert keys and secure them.
- Check shaft gap and alignment; the gap between sprocket faces should be even.
- Wrap the chain around both sprockets and close it with the connecting link.
- Lubricate the chain or put suitable grease inside the cover.
- Fit the cover and tighten its bolts; make sure it does not rub on the shafts.
To order
The two shaft diameters, key dimensions and the power/speed to be transmitted are enough. Based on this we prepare a correctly sized chain coupling set with bores and keyways machined.
