How a brush sieve cleaner works
A brush sieve cleaner cleans the underside of the sieve cloth with tufts of bristles set along the edges of its triangular body. As the plansifter oscillates the cleaner travels around the compartment, and the bristles reach slightly into the openings and push out particles stuck there. Working by sweeping rather than striking, it is both effective and gentle on the cloth.
Which products is it chosen for?
- Fine products such as flour and fine semolina,
- Bran-rich, fibrous products that tend to stick to the cloth,
- Fine-aperture sieves where tapping cleaners strain the cloth.
Bristles can clear sticky particles from the openings more effectively than tapping types.
Bristle condition decides performance
A brush cleaner’s effect depends on bristle length and flexibility. Over time bristles shorten, flatten or stiffen and no longer reach the cloth properly. Check the bristles during sieve maintenance; replace the cleaners if:
- bristles are bent one way and have taken a permanent set,
- tufts are thinned out or missing,
- bristles are matted with flour and moisture.
