The design of the 7281 mount
The 7281 rubber mount has a dome (bell) shaped rubber body with a metal insert for fixing. The dome shape makes it deflect progressively under load: soft under light load and increasingly stiff as load rises. This behaviour is useful for both vibration isolation and shock damping.
Where it is used
- At the support points of vibrating sieves, feeders and vibro machines,
- As a buffer (stop) that limits machine movement,
- On the mounting feet of vibration sources such as motors and fans.
Load sharing and replacing as a set
A machine usually stands on several mounts. If one hardens or tears, load shifts to the others, the machine runs out of level and vibration becomes irregular. So when one mount is damaged, replacing all the mounts on that machine together is recommended. Mounts of the same model and hardness are a precondition for balanced running.
Signs of damage
- Cracks in the dome or crumbling rubber,
- Separation between the metal insert and rubber,
- Permanent sagging, with the machine sitting lower,
- Swelling or softening of the rubber from oil or chemical contact.
“7281” is the mount’s model number. Quoting this code when ordering is enough for us to send the right mount.
